Living Fast Forward, 2019
For more than a decade, Allister Ann documented Kenny Chesney’s life on the road- from intimate backstage moments and life between shows to the energy of sold-out stadium performances.
Living Fast Forward is a 456-page, museum-quality photography book featuring 571 photographs by Ann, alongside work by Jill Trunnell and Glen Rose. Two years in the making, the book traces Chesney’s evolution from a young touring artist to one of country music’s most successful live performers. It premiered at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
As Chesney’s personal photographer for more than 13 years, Allister offers an intimate, access-driven perspective on his life and career, capturing both the spectacle of the stage and the quieter moments behind it.
The book also celebrates No Shoes Nation, documenting the fans, crowds, and rituals that define Chesney’s touring community. Living Fast Forward is ultimately a visual story of the connection between artist, audience, and place.
To Whom It May Concern, 2012
Before they were multi-Grammy winners, The Civil Wars were simply two voices in a room- and Allister Ann was there to capture the moment the world began to take notice.
To Whom It May Concern is a limited-edition, oversized 12 × 12-inch hardcover art book documenting the breakout first year of the folk duo. Across 64 pages, the book transforms an extensive photographic archive into an intimate visual diary of Joy Williams and John Paul White’s meteoric rise.
As the band’s primary visual architect from the beginning, Allister embedded herself on the road with the duo, documenting the unfiltered reality behind their sudden success. The photographs move between performances- including their historic tour supporting Adele -and quiet, fly-on-the-wall moments backstage, creating a portrait that feels immediate, personal, and deeply human.
Designed to live on a shelf alongside a vinyl record, the oversized format gives the photographs the connection between the band’s music and visual identity.
Tinder Series, 2025
In 2015, newly in Los Angeles, Allister began photographing the men she met through Tinder. What began as a personal experiment became a month-long exploration of attraction, vulnerability, and the ways we present ourselves to others.
Each date became an opportunity to look beyond the curated image of a dating profile and capture the person behind it. The resulting portraits exist somewhere between documentary and intimacy, documenting fleeting connections and moments of trust between strangers.
Guise explores the tension between the digital persona and the person revealed in real life-and the camera’s ability to bridge that distance. The series has been featured by Tinder, Dazed Magazine, and Harper’s BAZAAR Brazil.
Transatlantic Flight, 2026
Over three years, Allister documented Leif Vollebekk on tour throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Netherlands, photographing the spaces between performances as much as the performances themselves.
This 144-page photo book brings together an intimate record of life on the road- from quiet backstage moments and long stretches of travel to the energy of the stage and the fleeting encounters that define a touring life. Rather than a traditional portrait of a musician, the work offers a closer look at the person behind the performance and the rhythm of a life spent moving from one place to the next.
Together, the photographs form a visual diary of friendship, solitude, travel, and live music- a portrait shaped as much by the life surrounding the shows as by the performances themselves.
