Before they were multi-Grammy winners, The Civil Wars were simply two voices in a room- and Allister Ann was there to capture the moment the world began to take notice.
To Whom It May Concern is a limited-edition, oversized 12 × 12-inch hardcover art book documenting the breakout first year of the folk duo. Across 64 pages, the book transforms an extensive photographic archive into an intimate visual diary of Joy Williams and John Paul White’s meteoric rise.
As the band’s primary visual architect from the beginning, Allister embedded herself on the road with the duo, documenting the unfiltered reality behind their sudden success. The photographs move between performances- including their historic tour supporting Adele -and quiet, fly-on-the-wall moments backstage, creating a portrait that feels immediate, personal, and deeply human.
Designed to live on a shelf alongside a vinyl record, the oversized format gives the photographs the connection between the band’s music and visual identity.
